Many patients have heard horror stories about failed root canal procedures leading to even more severe toothache and other oral health concerns. In most cases, root canals fail in the very tip of the tooth root which can be difficult to access. By performing an apicoectomy, removing the tip of the tooth, we’re able to ensure all infection is removed, and in many cases, this procedure allows us to save the root canal treated tooth.
As the last teeth to emerge into patients’ smiles, wisdom teeth may cause a number of oral health concerns. Impaction, inability to erupt, is one of the most common problems associated with these teeth, and when wisdom teeth are impacted or otherwise adversely affect oral health, we may recommend extraction. Dr. Ghobadi has the skill necessary to carefully remove even the most impacted, broken, or otherwise difficult wisdom teeth.
Patients who are looking to replace any number of teeth on their upper arch using dental implants, often run into difficulty due to the large, hollow, sinus cavity which causes the upper jawbone to be thinner offering less stability for an implant. In these cases, we may recommend a sinus lift which is a bone grafting procedure that makes reduce the size of the sinus offering added support for implants.
Patients who have suffered extensive tooth loss or facial trauma often experience significantly reduced bone density. In order to complete restorations for these patients, it’s important to first improve the available jaw bone density using a bone grafting procedure. Regardless of the type of bone graft, the process essentially involves using bone from a donor, other parts of the patients’ body, or synthetic bone tissue to build up the strength or alter the shape of jaw bones.
Most patients who experience TMJ dysfunction due to damage or strain of the joints connecting the jawbone with the skull, are treated with minimally invasive procedures like physical therapy, behavioral intervention, and oral appliance therapy. However, in some extreme cases, complete TMJ surgery may be necessary. For these patients, Dr. Ghobadi is able to offer an advanced TMJ implant surgery.
As the name implies, the All-on-4 dental implant system allows Dr. Ghobadi to anchor a full arch of replacement teeth on just four dental implants. Rather than strategically placing implants along the jawbone to support the denture, All-on-4 makes use of the naturally denser part of the jaw, and positions implants at an angle to maximize stability for the denture and minimize surgical time for patients.
